January Loves...

A kick start to a new year with a list of endless possibilities. Places to be discovered with holidays booked and countires to be explored, trinkets from Moroccan markets, Parisian macaroons and the Austrian Alps perhaps? Photographs to be taken to keep the adventures well documented and to share with you all, outfits purchased to be worn with love throughout the year. As well as being a fresh start the classics remain with lazy Saturday girly catch ups sipping milky tea, Sushi & cinema dates to escape the bitter Winter nights. Hand written Thank you notes arrive in the post, new diaries are opened with the crisp pages waiting to be inked. The January uniform of black is well tested but paired with a pink Mulberry Charlie brightens up the Winter days, my classic and comfort skinny jeans, brogues, cashmere jumper, layers of necklaces and a touch of Chanel Rouge Allure on the lips will be at the front of my wardrobe.

July Loves...

Middle of summer here we are already, oh how you have creeped up on us...Warm, lazy weekends spent peacefully reading classic books. Bright, pink lipstick to add a splash of colour to your summer pallet. First glimpses of pre-fall collections, oh those Mulberry dresses & bags i want you all. On the look for the perfect jewlerry to go with that classic crisp white sundress. Messy buns or perfect waves the perfect hair mix for summer when its too warm to do anything too perfect, just go with it. The navy blazer has been purchased to wear with the pink chinos, an ideal summer outfit that i love. The enjoyment of bright warm evenings in a beer garden catching up with friend after work, its not the weekend but it feels like one. New music is being discovererd and loved as the summer festivals have kicked off. Waking up in crisp white sheets to the sight of a blue sky.

Sunshine Yellow: Outfit One

This weekend the weather was fantastic, two glorious days to relax and enjoy the warm sun on your skin, I hope you all had some warm sunshine on you this weekend! It makes such a difference, everyone is upbeat, energetic, Spring/Summer wardrobe is out in full force, BBQ's being lit and my favourite the light late nights. This was the first sunny weekend in Spring and I enjoyed it as much as I could, going to the park with friends, family BBQ, spot of shopping and lazy lunches in the sun. 

Obviously in Britain it wasn't as warm as some of you guys are currently having it, so I tried to get a bit of balance in my outfit. After purchasing some bold colour shoes this weekend I was desperate to wear them with my outfit on Sunday when I went for a bit of lunch with a girlfriend ( plus the colour matched the weather.) So I have decided to post my first ever outfit post (slightly apprehensive I wont deny it) but no holding back, so here is my first ever outfit post!

A Special Purchase

For some time now, the ‘it’ bag has been made redundant – it’s no longer cool to make a statement with a straight-off-the-runway designer piece, apparently. Well, that was until Mulberry created a little bag called the Alexa for Spring/Summer 2010 that’s sort of thrown a spanner in the ‘it’ bag works.

So how come this new 'it' bag captured our attention and launched itself to be one of Mulberry's biggest sellers, one possible reason for this is that people were starting to consider investment buys. Purchasing items that they knew might make a deeper hole in their skinny jeans but that they knew they could pull off season after season. Fast, throw-away fashion wasn’t actually saving anyone any money so long-term purchases made sense; they satisfied our penchant for an instant buy but became keep-forever pieces, too.

Mulberry- Oversized Alexa

Investment purchases that I agree with 100%, as I have already mentioned on previous posts handbags are my biggest weakness however I so think that I am sensible with my purchases (well most of the time.) Being lucky enough to own two Chanel bags the next bag on my list was as you might have guessed the oversized Alexa. After months of going back on forth on my decision and talking about buying this bag (Alexa is now a part of our family,) I finally went for it an am now the proud owner of Alexa!

However I have a confession as Alexa was not the only Mulberry purchase I made this weekend. After a walk around the Mulberry shop my mum comes towards me with  yellow clutch and says why dont you buy one of these for these clutches for Summer? Already the clogs were going round in my head and I eventually decided upon the Neon Pink Charlie, see I told you I didn't need much persuassion when it came to investment purchases on handbags. So now I am the lucky owner of two Mulberry bags however although they are definetly investments I cant see me making another invstment quite so soon, but I will without a doubt be getting my wear from my two new purchases. 

London Fashion Week- Mulberry

Mulberry's creative director Emma Hill transported her starry audience back to their childhood by drawing inspiration for this collection from Roald Dahl's classic, Fantastic Mr Fox.

Claridge's Ball Room had been given a countryside makeover, the catwalk was surrounded by woodland scenery - trees, birds, toadstools - magical. There were red jacketed fox hunters handing out cakes with blackberry and apple juice drinks. And just to add to the woodland theme that bit more they went that bit further by labelling the rows after animals, not numbers - Foxes for the front row, Hedgehogs for the second etc. Entering the enchanted forest by nightfall the show began...

The iconic Mulberry accessories in-particular bags for Autumn 2011 were 'the colour of polished conkers.' with wedge-heeled 'Tillie' ankle boots and, the ultimate accessory, handbag-sized dogs to fit into your Bayswater.

For next season, Mulberry has a great silhouette-Gorgeous gold plisse gowns, to school-girl, knee-high socks worn with culottes, somehow everything appeared instantly on-the-money.
Maxi skirts and dresses with a flouncey hem under pocketed, belted jackets, or high-waisted jodpur-tight trousers with tan knee high boots (which are going to be the top of every wish list come Autumn), all in an autumnal palette of khakis, aubergine, greys and browns.
Skirts were pleated and maxi long; or there were box pleated A-line miniskirts or cullottes. One look, a CND symbol embossed black pleated maxi skirt, worn under a belted pocketed leather jacket is going to be all over the street style blogs next winter.

It was a show that was firmly embedded in Mulberry’s unashamedly English heritage.

      

Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit

Happy Chinese New Year! I officially welcome the Year of the Rabbit, one of the cutest & most fashion-appropriate hip, hop happy animals of the Zodiac. According to the charts those of you who were born in 1987, 1975, 1963 and beyond should spend this year relaxing and indulging. Whilst for  the rest of us it brings a year of tranquility & balance. So for those of you born in the year of the rabbit what's more indulging than making a few small bunny-inspired pieces to show off your own sign?

Weaknesses..... What is Yours?

 Everyone has a weakness whether it is fast cars, chocolate, expensive wine, shoes and well mine is.... Handbags.

I personally think my weakness for handbags was installed into me at a young age by my mum. Every Christmas one of my presents was a handbag an I'm lucky that my mum has such good taste. At 9 I had a DKNY bumper bag which I thought was so cool oh god I cringe, at 11 I had a white floral canvas Chanel bag I don't think I even knew what Chanel was at that age & at 13 it was a bright orange Ralph Lauren bag that clashed with every outfit I had but I didn't care I loved it.
As I got older Chanel slightly became my bag God if I can call it that. The classic black Chanel 2.55 I seen as a wise investment, I knew I would still be using it when I was 80 so when I was lucky enough to receive it wrapped up in its black box and crisp white ribbon Christmas morning I knew it was meant to be. When I last visited Paris and Chanel's flagship store on Rue du Homme was around the corner from our hotel I knew out of all the Cities I had to make my very own Chanel purchase whilst in Paris.

Every season high fashion magazines advertise the new 'IT' bag. You cannot fault them an they are designed beautifully hwever they don't stay around for long an I see it as an awful lot of money to pay on a bag that is going to be overshadowed by another design the next season.
Therefore my eyes have fallen upon a new love, the Mulburry oversized 'Alexa.' I have been eyeing it up for the past couple of months trying to decide as much as I love it,  is it a classic investment. An Elle magazine have put my mind at ease and my heart racing with their fantastic news!

         'Mulberry Alexa Bag has cemented itself as a style classic.' 


I therefore think that it is safe to say that my mind is made up (I know I am easily persuaded) I need no further encouragement. Mulberry's profits have tripled due to the high demands for this piece therefore they have brought it out in 2 new pieces, Watermelon and Pink Trippy. I think I'll be keeping it safe and sticking with my first choice of Oak Soft Buffalo aka brown.

Nevertheless with weaknesses you have to indulge every once in a while, some indulgences are obviously more expensive then others, but one I hopefully will be making soon.
